If there is such a thing as momentum in tennis, it was probably a little on the side of Kyle Edmund: The Brit finally won the ATP Challenger tournament on the spot in Indian Wells last week. And neither Nicolas Jarry nor Radu Albot gave the slightest chance at the first Masters 1000 event of the year.

Federer, on the other hand, had a bit of a struggle with Peter Gojowczyk, but almost no struggle with Stan Wawrinka. And the Swiss followed up on the performance against his fellow countryman and buddy, quickly going to 5-0. And won set one 6-1.

Struff is subject to Raonic

In the second round, Edmund earned himself as a server - but only until the fifth game. Then Federer made the first break. And did not let himself be disturbed anymore, won after defending three breakballs in the very last game after a playing time of just over an hour with 6: 1 and 6: 4. The Swiss will face Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals, who beat Denis Shapovalov in three sets.

Jan-Lennard Struff, on the other hand, was eliminated: Warsteiner ultimately had no chance in the 4: 6 and 3: 6 against Milos Raonic. Rafael Nadal is still in top form: Filip Krajinovic from Serbia defeated the Spaniard in second place in two sets.
