At the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Munich in 2020, the winner of this year's ATP next-gen final and an absolute shooting star will serve. Jannik Sinner from Italy was won by the organizers for the clay court tournament from April 27th to May 3rd at MTTC Iphitos. "The participation of Jannik Sinner is fully paying into our concept of presenting the audience with a mix of young, wild players and numerous top players," said tournament director Patrik Kühnen. "Jannik is one of the greatest jewels in tennis and in 2019 he impressively showed that he can have a unique career like Federer, Nadal or Djokovic," predicts Kühnen.

The 18-year-old started 2019 as number 551, meanwhile he has pretended to rank 78 in the ATP world rankings. He is the youngest player in the top 80. At the same age, only world-class players Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and, most recently, Denis Shapovalov managed to do this. The young shooting star is already looking forward to the traditional tournament in Bavaria's capital with almost 600,000 euros: “Playing in Munich means a lot to me. The tournament has an excellent reputation, stands for a high-class world-class field, a long tradition and a great backdrop. I am therefore very happy to come to Munich in April, ”says Yannik Sinner.

Zverev, Thiem, del Potro already in Munich as a guest

At the traditional tournament on Aumeisterweg, numerous young stars such as Alexander Zverev , Dominic Thiem , Karen Khachanov and Andrej Rublev and established world-class players such as Andy Murray, Juan Martin del Potro, Fabio Fognini, Roberto Bautista Agut and Philipp Kohlschreiber have played in the past six years. Every year from the first rally, spectators get to see world-class matches on the courts of the MTTC Iphitos. The particularly familiar atmosphere of the facility invites you to experience the tennis stars up close and also to spend a relaxed and varied day with the whole family in the immediate vicinity of the English Garden.

The defending champion is Chilean Cristian Garin, who won the 2019 final against Matteo Berrettini.
