Djokovic did not stay with his French opponent on Manolo Santana for long, winning after a time of 85 minutes with 6: 1 and 7: 6 (2). Before the tournament started, there was much speculation about the current state of the world's number one. At any rate, Djokovic's first two appearances against Taylor Fritz on Tuesday and two days later against Jeremy Chardy were dominant. The latter is not surprising: Djokovic had won all twelve duels so far against the French.

Djokovic should face a little more resistance on Friday: there it is against Marin Cilic, who prevailed against Laslo Djere with 4: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 2. As with Jan-Lennard Struff, Cilic had problems at the beginning, but got stronger as the match progressed. The record against Djokovic is devastating for the US Open winner from 2014: The industry leader leads with 17: 2 wins.
