Number eight on the seat list in Indian Wells, Hubert Hurkacz, kicked off like the fire brigade in his second round duel with Australian Alexei Popyrin, knocking the 22-year-old off the pitch in round one with a score of 6: 1. In the second set, too, it initially looked as if the Pole would still have everything under control.

With break ahead, Hurkacz left the chance to close the game on his own serve towards the end of the set. Without serious consequences. In the next game, the 22-year-old managed another break, which he was ultimately able to transport to 6: 1 and 7: 5 success.

Opelka beats Daniel

The US-American Reilly Opelka has also made it safely into the round of the last 32. The service giant defeated the Japanese Taro Daniel in two sets in the first match of the day at Center Court. If Opelka managed to break a break in the finish to win the set in the first set, the 24-year-old made things clear earlier in set two. Opelka bought his third round ticket with 7: 5 and 6: 3.
