Things are going moderately at the moment: Casper Ruud

As expected, there is a lot going on these days on the facility at the Masters tournament in Madrid. Casper Ruud, who played excellently on clay in 2021, is not yet rolling this year. In Monte-Carlo it was over in the third round, in Barcelona and Munich in the quarterfinals and in Madrid already in round 2. The Norwegian, who was fifth seeded, lost 6:7, 6:2 and 4:6 to Dusan Lavovic after a long fight . The first set was particularly annoying, as the tie-break went wafer-thin with 9:7 to the Serbs.

Goffin in two, Evans and Norrie in three sets

David Goffin went through without any major problems against Munich finalist Botic van de Zandschulp – 6:4, 6:2. He will meet Rafael Nadal in the next round, who defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4 and 7-5. Nadal could face Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, but the young Spaniard will face Cameron Norrie first. The Brit took John Isner out of the tournament in a tight game 6:4, 6:7 and 6:4.

Daniel Evans was also successful in three sets. After a good start against Roberto Bautista-Agut, things got really tight again in this game. The decision came in the tie-break of the third set. Evans won this 7-2.
