Dominic Thiem opens in Miami against Lorenzo Sonego

At the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami, Dominic Thiem, who is sometimes in a veritable form crisis in 2023, got a quite feasible task at the start. For the Lower Austrian it is round one against the Italian Lorenzo Sonego. In the second round, a seeded player would wait with Dan Evans.

Dominic Thiem can be found in the same branch as Frances Tiafoe (possible third round opponent) and Felix Auger-Aliassime (possible round of 16 opponent). Stefanos Tsitsipas and Felix Auger-Aliassime would contest the scheduled quarterfinals in this section of the draw. Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz also drew the lower half of the tableau: Cameron Norrie and Matteo Berrettini are also allowed to try the lower half.

Carlos Alcaraz top seed

Alexander Zverev got it pretty good in Miami: The native of Hamburg has a bye in round one, and in the second round the winner of the duel between Taro Daniel and Arthur Rinderknech is waiting. Possible third round opponent is Roberto Bautista Agut. Casper Ruud, number three of the tournament, could wait in the round of 16. Potential quarter-final opponents in the event of progress would be Jannik Sinner or Andrey Rublev.

The newly crowned number one Carlos Alcaraz is enthroned in the top quarter. The Spaniard could face Andy Murray, who opens against Dusan Lajovic, in round three. A possible quarter-final opponent for Alcaraz is the Dane Holger RUne. Denis Shapovalov, Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz were also drawn to the top quarter.
