In the first round duel with Dominik Koepfer at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Paris-Bercy, it was a bitter defeat for the 34-year-old. After Murray had already recorded seven match points.

Murray in Abu Dhabi against Thiem and Nadal?
The 34-year-old missed another chance to make a strong leap in the world rankings with a good performance. Murray is currently only in 144th place. A circumstance due to which the Scot has always been confronted with very tough tasks early in the tournaments. There is one last chance for improvement this season, however: Murray will serve at the end of the season in Stockholm before the veteran goes into the winter break.
That won't last long, as Murray wants to start preparing for the season as soon as possible. First the Scotsman wants to gain some distance back home, then Murray plans to spend some time abroad - and is quite specific: "I might travel to Abu Dhabi, where I will almost certainly be the exhibition tournament from 16. to 18. December will play ", emphasized the world number 144. There the 34-year-old could match Dominic Thiem and Rafael Nadal. The former has already confirmed its start, at least Nadal has shown strong interest.
