The ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy could be held at a new location in the coming years

The ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy ended just a few days ago, and there is already speculation about the future of the last Masters event of the year. Cedric Pioline, Tournament Director of the Rolex Paris Masters, opened the discussion at the final press conference by announcing a record of 164,000 spectators in the tournament week on the one hand, but on the other hand raising concerns about the ATP's expansion policy.

Although Pioline and the French Tennis Association, which is both the license holder and the organizer in the French capital, have agreed not to rush into anything and not to provoke quick shots for the next year, a new location for the big event is planned in the long term.

"There are no intentions to sell"

"Through the ATP plan, the entire Masters series enjoys protection for 30 years. In 2025, however, only two tournaments will not have the 12-day combined format - Monte Carlo and the Rolex Paris Masters. Participating in this development seems very complicated . A 96-tableau requires at least eight playing and eight training pitches. For this reason we cannot consider it, but we plan to grow," said the 53-year-old.

A move is one of the possible options: "We're not ruling it out. I'm saying this in full transparency because the Accor Arena knows we're looking around. Going from point A to point B is a lot of work." At the same time, Pioline reassured that a sale was not planned: "There are no intentions to sell at all. The French tennis association is committed to tradition."
