6: 4, 6: 4 and 6: 4. That was the final result from the point of view of Daniil Medvedev in the final of this year's US Open - and the Russian also secured the first set 6: 4 at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy. After a break in the first game, final opponent Novak Djokovic had meanwhile equalized, but the world number one could no longer equalize another loss of service in the seventh game.

In the second section, however, Djokovic got off to a better start. The 34-year-old took Medvedev the service to 3: 1 and was then able to transport this lead over the finish line. The Serb surprised again and again with network attacks and thus left his mark on the high-class endgame.

A similar picture emerged in the third set, in which Djokovic quickly turned it to 5: 2 thanks to two breaks. The 20-time Grand Slam winner could not serve the match, but took the serve again from Medvedev and after 2:14 hours of playing, converted his first match point to a 4: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 3 success .

With his sixth triumph in Paris-Bercy, Djokovic secured his 37th title at the ATP Masters 1000 level and is now a tournament victory in front of Rafael Nadal. Even before the final, it was clear that the 34-year-old would finish first in the world in 2021 .
