Patrik Kühnen has already experienced a lot as tournament director at the BMW Open, since 2008 the former Davis Cup player and captain has presided over the traditional event at the MTTC Iphitos. As an ex-professional, Kühnen also knows that the players have to manage their strengths. Especially in these days, when the clay court season is really picking up speed, two ATP Masters 1000 tournaments are waiting in Madrid and Rome in the coming weeks.

When Kühnen found out about Jannik Sinner's semi-finals in Barcelona on Friday afternoon, he may have already imagined that it would not be enough for a start next week in Munich. Especially since Kühnen himself praised the good tournament planning of head coach Riccardo Piatti in Team Sinner in an interview with tennisnet.com a few days ago.

And so Jannik Sinner's debut in Munich will have to wait at least another year. The good news: With Sebastian Korda , Patrik Kühnen has given an outstanding representative of the #NextGen a wildcard. Like Sinner, the 20-year-old American is on the way up and is currently among the best 70 players in the world. And just want to follow in the footsteps of his father Petr in Munich - he reached the final twice at the Bavarian Open Tennis Championships.
