Mischa Zverev was allowed to slip into the role of the lucky fairy, but the left-hander got his own name from the electronically operated lottery drum: Zverev, the older one, has to fight Guido Pella, which has been a very difficult task after the Argentinean's achievements over the past few weeks . Only yesterday Pella had a strong performance against Dominic Thiem in Barcelona, but was inferior to the Austrian in two sets.
Perhaps the longer preparation would suit him, so the hope of Mischa, who has been in Munich with his brother Alexander since Wednesday. As number one of the tournament, the latter naturally starts with a walk-through in a 28-point grid. And for the first time either against Maximilian Marterer or Juan Ignacio Londero on the court.
Kohlschreiber put in the tournament
Philipp Kohlschreiber, three-time MTTC Iphitos title holder, will go unstamped this time in the 104th edition of the International Bavarian Tennis Championships. Kohlschreiber and Andreas Seppi already had a demanding lot in round one; in the event of a victory, Karen Khachanov was number two of the tournament. After all, if Kohlschreiber were to show his best side in Munich as in previous years, it would be possible to repeat the 2018 final against Alexander Zverev.
Finally, Rudolf Molleker has to prove himself in round one as a return player. In Marius Copil, the 18-year-old has been drawn by a man whose biggest weapon is the serve. After the summer has left the Bavarian capital for now, Molleker could benefit from the current conditions.
