After Alexander Zverev's exit on Wednesday, Otte has to shoulder the hopes of a home win in Munich alone. In the first set, the Cologne player fended off two set balls on his own serve, but then also missed five break chances against Opelka before the tie-break. In the short decision, Otte then had the lead with 7:4.

In the second round, an early break was enough for him, which he maintained without any problems up to 5:2. After 85 minutes there was the first match ball when Opelka served. The American missed a forehand, Oscar Otte was allowed to be celebrated by the numerous fans at the MTTC Iphitos. In the quarter-finals on Friday, it's either against Hugo Gaston or against Alejandro Tabilo.

In the match before Otte's, Casper Ruud had big problems with Alex Molczan. Ruud was often on the verge of a break in the third set, but was able to win 3:6, 6:4 and 6:4 with a concentrated performance. In the quarter-finals, the Norwegian will now play against Botic van de Zandschulp.
