The fact that the number one and two in a tournament already meet in the semifinals, comes in tennis almost never before. This possibility exists only with the ATP and WTA Finals - and since 2017 also with the NextGen Finals.

This year, so it should be so far, the American Frances Tiafoe called the top seed Alex de Minaur . After an impressive start of the Australian, Tiafoe struggled for a while, but eventually De Minaur kept the upper hand with 4: 2, 4: 1, 0: 4 and 4: 2.

The world ranking-18. thus clinched his fourth victory in the fourth match in Milan and won tickets for the final for the second time in a row. Last year, De Minaur drew in the final against Stefanos Tsitsipas the short straw.

This time the 20-year-old gets to deal with Jannik Sinner or Miomir Kecmanovic. The two will meet in the second semi-final at 21:00 CET.
