Who is the defending champion? Who are the favorites?

The defending champion at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Paris Bercy will be missing this year, as will the previous year's finalist. In 2019 Novak Djokovic prevailed against Denis Shapovalov in the final, but the Serb is skipping the event this year with a view to the Nitto ATP Finals, Shapovalov, on the other hand, had ended his season early after the disappointing end at the Erste Bank Open.
