ATP: The hard court season is picking up steam in Washington and Los Cabos

This week, the tournaments in Washington and Los Cabos are on the program on the ATP tour. In Mexico, among others, the world number oneDaniil Medvedev will do the honors.

With the ATP 250 tournament in Atlanta, the hard court season before the US Open got its start last week, but at the beginning of August the absolute top players are gradually returning to the tour. Among other things, world number one Daniil Medvedev will start in the first week of August, the 26-year-old will be honored at the ATP 250 tournament in Los Cabos.

Medvedev, who played his last game on June 23 in Mallorca, meets Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez or a qualifier in Mexico after an opening bye. Potential quarter-final opponent is Quentin Halys, in the semi-finals it could go against Miomir Kecmanovic or Brandon Nakashima. Or against Yannick Hanfmann, who decided to quickly switch to hard court after reaching the semifinals in Kitzbühel.

Auger-Aliassime and Norrie in the same half

The number two of the tournament, Felix Auger-Aliassime, opens against John Millman or Alex Hernandez. With Wimbledon semi-finalist Cameron Norrie, another top player landed in the lower half of the tableau.

Meanwhile, the first and only ATP 500 tournament of the North American hard court tour is taking place in Washington this week. The top seed in the US capital is Andrey Rublev, who will play his first match against Stefan Kozlov or Jack Draper.

Kyrgios and Murray start in Washington

In the round of 16, Maxime Cressy could be waiting for the world number one, possible quarter-final opponents are Denis Shapovalov and Holger Rune. In the semifinals, Rublev is threatened with a duel with Taylor Fritz or Karen Khachanov.

The lower half of the tableau is led by Hubert Hurkacz, the Pole first meets Mackenzie McDonald or Emil Ruusuvuori. With Nick Kyrgios and Andy Murray, two other highly interesting players also landed in the second part of the draw. Kyrgios meets Marcos Giron in round one, Murray meets Mikael Ymer.
