"Daniil Medvedev has waited two days after the cancellation for Moscow, as his physical condition develops. But after his extremely intense program in recent weeks, he is completely exhausted and therefore can not compete in Vienna, "said Straka. Medvedev has played no fewer than 76 matches (59 wins, 17 defeats) on the ATP Tour this season. Of the last six tournaments he has completed since August, Medvedev has won three (Cincinnati, St. Petersburg, Shanghai). He also reached the final in Washington, Montreal and the US Open.

The cancellation of Medvedev means that Dominic Thiem will be ranked number one at his home tournament.
