After the cancellation of Kei Nishikori because of an elbow injury tournament director Herwig Straka reached on Tuesday evening, the next bad news. Even Nick Kyrgios can not compete in the Wiener Stadthalle at the Erste Bank Open, which is endowed with € 2,443,810, from 19 to 27 October 2019. The reason is a shoulder injury that Kyrgios has been causing since the Laver Cup in mid-September in Geneva.

The management of the 24-year-old Australian told Straka that although Kyrgios had already begun a light punching practice, he was not yet able to pitch and therefore was far from playing tennis competitively.

"Sometimes there are days when not much is going on for a tournament organizer. Nevertheless, we remain positive, because despite the two losses, the cast of the Erste Bank Open is still extremely strong and promises a high-class tournament, "emphasized Straka.

Kyrgios is replaced in the peloton by the Italian Lorenzo Sonego, who won his first ATP title this year at the grass tournament in Antalya.
