Nick Kyrgios is still in top form: The Wimbledon finalist made it to the final at the ATP 500 tournament in Washington thanks to a two-set win over Mikael Ymer. Despite a solid performance at best, the Australian prevailed 7:6 (4) and 6:3 against the Swede in the semi-finals.

"Honestly, I didn't play anywhere near my best tennis today. I don't know either... The roles were reversed, the last couple of matches I've been the underdog on paper and ranked, but today I definitely felt like a favourite "Kyrgios, who is also in the doubles final alongside Jack Sock, was not completely satisfied after the game.

Kyrgios is also a favorite in the final, where he surprisingly meets the world number 96. Yoshihito Nishioka. The Japanese left-hander defeated Andrey Rublev, who was in first place, 6:3 and 6:4 and is thus in the final of an ATP 500 event for the first time in his career.

"Today I felt very tired before the start of the match and I felt like I couldn't do the same thing as I did against Evans and Khachanov. I tried to be a bit more aggressive because I knew that Andrey would play aggressively against me ", Nishioka explained after the match. The 26-year-old is 3-0 down in the official head-to-head against Kyrgios.
