Monfils has 500 points to defend only this week. The Frenchman won the tournament in Rotterdam last year, the final victory against Vasek Pospisil on Sunday in Montpellier gives the Frenchman at least a small cushion of points. Pospisil, on the other hand, made up 28 positions and is now in position 104.

Cristian Garin also made a leap forward with his tournament win in Cordoba, the Chilean is now in 26th place. In Pune, India, Jiri Vesely was able to prevail, the injured Czech catapulted from 107th to 72nd.

Thiem could overtake Federer

At the very front there was calm. Novak Djokovic continues to top the charts, followed by Rafael Nadal , Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem . As is well known, the Austrian has decided not to start in Buenos Aires this week, and will only be trying to start in Rio de Janeiro on Monday. If successful, Thiem Federer would overtake in the world rankings and reach a new career high.

From the top ten alongside Monfils Daniil Medvedev , Stefanos Tsitsipas and David Goffin will be at the start this week - all of them also in Rotterdam. Second best German after Alexander Zverev in seventh place is Jan-Lennard Struff in 34th place, from an Austrian perspective Dennis Novak follows as number 96 behind Dominic Thiem.
