You shouldn't expect any big landslides in the 2020 calendar year in the ATP world rankings. Due to the long interruption of the tour due to COVID-19 and the numerous cancellations, the ATP has decided to only allow positive changes. This means that the points from the previous year remain in the ranking, you can only gain the difference if you improve compared to the past season.

That should succeed the industry leader, Novak Djokovic. While last year the semi-final against Dominic Thiem was the final destination, the Serb played his way into the final this year, in which he lost to Rafael Nadal without a chance. Nevertheless, the 33-year-old is consolidating his lead in the ATP charts and is now almost 2000 points ahead of his first rival Rafael Nadal.

Rublev & Schwartzman new in top 10

While Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer were able to keep third and fourth place, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev swapped places. The Greek made it to the semi-finals in Roland Garros, for Medvedev it was the last stop in round one. Meanwhile, Diego Schwartzman made the biggest jump at the top of the world rankings. With his entry into the semifinals, the nimble Argentine was able to make up six places and is now only one position behind Alexander Zverev in eighth place.

Matteo Berrettini in ninth place and Andrey Rublev, who was able to make up two places and set up his personal best, complete the top 10 in the men's category. After this update, Jannik Sinner made the biggest step forward within the top 100. The 19-year-old South Tyrolean made up a full 29 places with his quarter-finals and is in the top 50 for the first time with 46th place.

Altmaier, Korda and Rodionov with big jumps

From a German point of view, surprise man Daniel Altmaier has made the biggest leap forward. The 22-year-old had sensationally made his way into the round of 16 at the Bois de Bolougne. This is also reflected in the world rankings. The German made up 64 places and is now in 122nd place - a personal best for Altmaier.

Sebastian Korda was able to make up even more places. The US-American made it to the last sixteen in Paris and was rewarded with an improvement from a whopping 82 world ranking positions to 131st. The biggest climber from an Austrian point of view can also be found shortly after. Jurij Rodionov was able to improve his first victory in a Grand Slam main field by 22 places and with rank 148 is for the first time among the best 150 men in the world.
