Match of the day: Hubert Hurkacz vs. Denis Shapovalov (third match after 11am on Court Simonne-Mathieu)

Shapovalov has sent out a few signals in the last week that suggest that the Canadian is serious about his tennis again. Hubi Hurkacz never said otherwise. But the Pole was not struggling with a long-term injury. Neither player is considered to be a clay court specialist - but in the confines of the wonderful Simonne-Mathieu, an exciting match could develop. Just like Shapovalov did against Frances Tiafoe on Thursday.

We are curious about this: Sebastian Ofner vs. Corentin Moutet (fourth match after 11 a.m. on Court Simonne-Mathieu)

Marathon and comeback man Ofner is up against one of those ATP pros who still fit the description "gambler" to a tee. With Moutet you never know what you're going to get. There can be brilliant tennis - but also a 0:6 set like against Alexander Shevchenko in round two. Ofner, on the other hand, is a model of stability and continuity. The only question is: how fresh is Austria's number one after the exhausting match against Sebastian Baez?

Upset alert: Zhizhen Zhang against Stefanos Tsitsipas (fourth match after 11am on Court Suzanne-Lenglen)

A pretty bold tip. But if Zhang is on his way, anything is possible. What speaks against the Chinese is that he had to play four sets against Lorenzo Sonego on Thursday and at least as many rain breaks. While Stef was able to take a rest day and just trained casually in the adjacent "Jean Bouin" complex.

People speak German: It is doubled

The top German doubles Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz will also be entering the competition, as will their Austrian counterparts, Lucas Miedler and Alexander Erler. Constantin Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens will also be playing, as will Yannick Hanfmann and Dominik Koepfer. Watch out for Laura Siegemund and Barbora Krejcikova in the women's competition!
