Billie Jean King Cup: Pavlyuchenkova leads Russia to the semi-finals
The Russian tennis players were the first team to reach the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup in Prague, knocking out defending champions France.

On Wednesday, the point win by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova's 5: 7, 6: 4, 6: 2 against Alize Cornet was enough for them to move into the knockout games on Friday as group A winners.
Angelique Kerber's German team has already been eliminated in Group D after two defeats against the Czech Republic (1: 2) and Switzerland (0: 3). The final of the most important team competition in women's tennis, which this year will be held for the first time as a final tournament with twelve teams within a week, will take place on Saturday.
