Historic triumph for Switzerland! For the first time ever, the Swiss women were able to celebrate the title at the Billie Jean King Cup (formerly Fed Cup). Jil Teichmann and Belinda Bencic ensured the final victory against Australia and big celebrations in the team on Sunday in Glasgow.

Captain Heinz Günthardt initially trusted Jil Teichmann in the first individual and should do everything right with this decision. The 25-year-old prevailed against Storm Sanders 6: 3, 4: 6 and 6: 3. "I'm so happy that I was able to secure Switzerland's first point," said Teichmann after the match.

Bencic then had significantly fewer problems: The individual Olympic champion from 2021 clearly beat Ajla Tomljanovic 6: 2 and 6: 1 and thus gave Switzerland its first Billie Jean King Cup title. Reaching the final in 1998 was their best result so far.
