Billie Jean King Cup: USA take on Austria with Cori Gauff and Jessica Pegula
A mammoth task awaits the ÖTV ladies in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying round. Opponent USA will compete with Cori Gauff and Jessica Pegula .

The Austrian women must hope for a sporting miracle in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying round. Jessica Pegula, third in the world rankings, and youngster Cori Gauff - currently sixth in the ranking - will represent the USA. This was announced by the BJKC record winner on Wednesday.
Pegula and Gauff not only knew how to please individually. At the WTA 500 tournament in Doha, the two secured the title in the doubles competition. Gauff is number two in the world in pair skating, Pegula is fourth. "Of course it will be difficult if the USA compete against us with this team," said sports coordinator Marion Maruska on the ÖTV website .
"That certainly doesn't make it any easier for us"
Naturally, Maruska had high expectations of the Americans, "but the fact that they really want to play with the best players now doesn't make it any easier for us." The USA will announce the other nominations on March 13th, those of the Austrians will "probably" follow four days later.
The international match will take place in Delray Beach on April 14th and 15th. The starting shot will be fired on Friday with two singles games, followed by two more singles games and doubles on Saturday. The winning team qualifies for the finals in November.
