Germany's tennis players have to do without Wimbledon semi-finalist Tatjana Maria in the fight to stay up in the Billie Jean King Cup in Croatia. "Unfortunately, I have to announce that I won't be able to play with the girls for Germany next week," wrote Maria on Instagram. She was "disappointed that I can't be there, but I need a few weeks of treatment now".

The 35-year-old suffered a stomach injury on Thursday at the ITF tournament in Shrewsbury (Great Britain) in the round of 16 against the British Yuriko Miyazaki. Maria immediately sought medical treatment, and the doctors recommended a break of at least two to three weeks.
