Boris Becker has pleaded innocent on all counts

On Thursday, Becker pleaded "not guilty" to the competent London court on nine other charges. In mid-September, the 52-year-old had already declared himself innocent on 19 allegations. In the ongoing proceedings in connection with his insolvency, Becker is accused, among other things, of withholding assets and possessions in his information and of not having complied with information obligations.

Becker was declared insolvent by a British court in 2017. The actual process is scheduled to begin on September 13th next year and last up to four weeks. The three-time Wimbledon winner faces up to seven years imprisonment if convicted.

Becker has to leave a passport

Among other things, Becker is accused of hiding trophies and medals from his tennis career, including the trophy for his historic first Wimbledon victory in 1985, from the insolvency administrator. He is also said to have concealed real estate and bank balances and also transferred large sums of money to the accounts of his former partners Barbara and Lilly Becker.

Becker's attorney Jonathan Caplan said his client was "determined to face and challenge these charges and to restore his reputation in connection with the allegations against him." Prosecutor Rebecca Chalkley said London-based Becker could face additional charges at a later date.

Becker will remain at large until the trial in the coming year, but must still report to the insolvency authorities before traveling abroad and deposit his passport with lawyers. Due to incomplete information, the insolvency conditions against Becker had already been extended by twelve years last year.
