The child may have fallen into the well, but the dirty laundry is far from washed. A few days ago, the ITF announced that it was terminating the agreement with the Kosmos Group regarding the organization and marketing of the Davis Cup competition - and in particular the finals that were held in Malaga last year.

That didn't go down too well with Gerard Piqué and his colleagues. As the Spanish newspaper Marca reports, Kosmos has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the ITF at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The clarification of this conflict will also be of interest to many associations, because the question remains whether all agreed entry and prize money has been paid out. The cooperation between Kosmos and the ITF first came to fruition in 2019. That year, the classic Davis Cup format was replaced by a finals tournament, with hosts Spain taking the title at the Caja Magica in Madrid.

In 2020 the final was canceled due to the corona pandemic, and the following year Russia secured the title. Canada is currently the reigning Davis Cup champion.
