Collins had gone to Charlottesville two hours away on Monday to get medication for her rheumatoid arthritis . However, contrary to the requirement not to leave the "The Greenbeer" resort where the World Team Tennis Event takes place. /

"I don't think Danielle tried to do anything bad, but she put us in a situation where you have to do what you try to do to keep the other 150 people safe," said Carlos Silva, CEO of World Team Tennis, its decision to the New York Times .

Collins sees it differently. The form she signed for security would not have meant that they were not allowed to leave the hotel. However, Silva referred to two meetings on July 11th and 15th, where this had been issued. Again, Collins does not want to hear anything like that.

Vigilance is the key

Silva referred to the biggest challenge in the current time: vigilance. "You can do things right 100 times, but if you go wrong, the 100 right times were completely free."

Collins also said that an official site had not banned her from taking a short trip; she had already gone to look after her dog before. She had a difficult time going through because her rheumatoid arthritis flared up and her mother had come to the hospital because of a previous medical condition.

However, Silva had heard nothing of such a permit, he said.

World Team Tennis this time in one place

The US team competition games usually take place in different cities with home and away games. Due to the current situation, however, all nine teams play in "The Greenbeer". The World Team Tennis series will continue until August 2, including Sofia Kenin, Sloane Stephens, Kim Clijsters , Monica Puig, Sabine Lisicki, Taylor Fritz, Sam Querrey, Donald Young and the Bryan Brothers.

The hotel was also open to other guests and allowed up to 500 spectators, but more than a few hundred had not yet been there, said Silva. Players and staff have been tested regularly and are encouraged to wear masks and keep their distance.

So far 740 tests have been carried out as part of World Team Tennis, all with negative results. "It's not a perfect bubble, but it's close. And the players feel good about it," Tennys Sandgren is quoted as saying.
