While the draw for the final round of the 16 best nations in the Davis Cup was postponed by four weeks to the end of April, Austria has known the opponent for a few minutes, against whom it is a question of remaining in the world group in September. Austria was lucky - and with Pakistan drew an opponent who only has one player with an ATP ranking: Ahmed Choudhari is currently listed as number 1,565.

That shouldn't be a problem for Dennis Novak, Jurij Rodionov and possibly Dominic Thiem again. Especially since the Pakistanis only have one top player in doubles: Aisham ul haq Quereshi. The pair skating specialist is in position 47 in the ATP charts, but is also 42 years old.

Austria missed out on participating this year with the defeat in South Korea in early March. For a renewed attempt in 2023, this draw looks very good.
