Davis Cup: Austria vs. South Korea 1:1 - Rodionov is defeated by Kwon
South Korea and Austria end day one of the Davis Cup duel with a score of 1-1. While Dennis Novak had no problems with Ji Sung Nam , Jurij Rodionov had to admit defeat against the number one South Koreans 5: 7 and 4: 6.

Dennis Novak put the Austrians in front 1-0 in the first match with a flawless performance. The Lower Austrian defeated Ji Sung Nam 6:1 and 6:4. In the second game, Jurij Rodionov faced the South Korean number one: Soon-woo Kwon. Set one was extremely open, Rodionov managed the rebreak at a score of 4: 5, but immediately had to take another break - and a little later accept the loss of the set.
The second round also started with a series of breaks. Soon-woo Kwon was the first to capitalize on this situation, serving the entire set up front and converting his second match point after 1:38 hours. The next two singles and a potentially decisive doubles are on the program for tomorrow, Sunday.
For Austria and South Korea it is about a renewed participation in the final tournament of the best 16 nations. In the previous year, Austria as the venue (Innsbruck) in a strong group with Serbia and Germany could not record a team success.
