Canada and Croatia have upped the ante with their teams for the final round of the Davis Cup. Which is not good news for the German team.

Germany will therefore travel to Malaga with the same team that held its own in Hamburg in the group with Australia, Belgium and France: Oscar Otte, Jan-Lennard Struff, Yannick Hanfmann, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz. Opponents in the quarter-finals Canada have upgraded again compared to their appearance in Valencia: namely with Denis Shapovalov, who was still missing in the intermediate round. Together with Félix Auger-Aliassime, who won the tournaments in Florence and Antwerp in the past two weeks, this could be a very difficult task for Michael Kohlmann's team.

Croatia has also upgraded for the quarterfinals against Spain: with Marin Cilic, the 2014 US Open champion. Cilic will serve alongside Borna Coric in singles, in doubles the Croatians have a real pound in their hands with Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic . As expected, hosts Spain will be without Rafael Nadal, but with Carlos Alcaraz and Pablo Carreno Busta as expected individual players.

Sinner, Berrettini, Musetti for Italy

There were no surprises for the first quarterfinals, which will be played in Malaga on November 22nd. Australia (again without Nick Kyrgios) and the Netherlands meet there.

But the meeting between Italy and the USA promises to be the most exciting. The Italian captain Filippo Volandri can choose between Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Musetti in the singles. The best-ranked player in this duel as of now in the ATP charts is US number one Taylor Fritz, who will receive competent support from Frances Tiafoe.
