There really is no reason not to love Matteo Berrettini. The Italian is personable, brings exciting tennis to the court and looks enviably good. And he also seems to be a man who celebrates the few occasions he gets to compete on a team. Stupid, however, if the body does not play along. Sometimes it's the abdominal muscles that don't play along, sometimes a small mishap on the hitting hand, at the moment Matteo is tormented by his right foot.

Which makes it impossible to play in the Davis Cup final round in Málaga. But not the presence of Berrettini in the box of the Italians. There he will have his hands full as a cheerleader. Because his team is an outsider in the encounter with Canada.

Auger-Aliassime beats Musetti in Florence

Lorenzo Sonego will open against Denis Shapovalov this Saturday from 4 p.m. (live on ServusTV On). The latter first had to repress recent holiday memories of the Maldives against Jan-Lennard Struff in the quarter-finals, but Shapo was there in doubles alongside Vasek Pospisil. The Canadian was able to win the only meeting with Sonego, this spring at the Foro Italico in Rome.

A bit more history connects Félix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti. Namely four matches, which the two divided equally among themselves. The last, however, should not be a pointer from an Italian point of view - because Auger-Aliassime had no problems in the Hall of Florence against Musetti.

But a win is needed, otherwise the old masters Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini are not allowed to play. The two surprisingly clearly led the Italians to victory in the game against the USA, a da capo would be a surprise. For the chief driver Matteo Berrettini but would give everything from outside.
