What a Davis Cup evening in Turin! Croatia and Italy fought a relentless fight on Monday - with a better ending for the Croatians, who were ultimately to prevail in the decisive doubles. There the men around Marin Cilic benefited from the privilege of being able to send the number one duo in the world rankings into the race. Mate Pavic and NIkola Mektic made the semi-finals for Croatia perfect a few minutes before midnight.

In the first individual, Borna Gojo beat Lorenzo Sonego 7: 6 (7: 2), 2: 6, 6: 2. Then Sinner equalized with a 3: 6, 7: 6 (7: 4), 6: 3 against Marin Cilic for Italy. After losing the opening set, the South Tyrolean stood with his back to the wall at times - but Cilic could not serve the match in round two and so opened the door to the turnaround for Sinner. In the end, however, this should only turn out to be a cosmetic result.

In the semi-finals on Friday in Madrid, Croatia will meet Serbia around top star Novak Djokovic or Kazakhstan. The German team, which prevailed in the preliminary round before Djokovic and Co., will play against Great Britain on Tuesday (4 p.m. / ServusTV) to make it to the semi-finals.
