Davis Cup: Great Britain is eliminated, Auger-Aliassime beats Alcaraz
Félix Auger-Aliassime messed up Carlos Alcaraz's debut in the Spanish Davis Cup team. The Canadian defeated the newly crowned US Open champion in Valencia 6: 7 (3), 6: 4 and 6: 2. Meanwhile, hosts Great Britain are eliminated in Glasgow.

The hall in Valencia shook when Carlos Alcaraz prepared to make his debut in the Spanish Davis Cup team. All in white, by the way, while opponent Félix Auger-Aliassime came in classic red. Alcaraz only defeated Casper Ruud in four sets in the final of the last major of the year in New York City on Sunday, then joined the Spanish team in Valencia directly. Alcaraz had his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero with him, who supported Spanish captain Sergi Bruguera in the pits.
Auger-Aliassime went one better in doubles with Pospisil: The two defeated Pedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers 4:6, 6:4 and 7:5 and thus secured Canada's second win in the second game. In the third set, Auger-Aliassime and Pospisil were 4-5 behind - and won three games in a row. Canada has thus taken the lead in the Valencia group.

In Glasgow, Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury were involved in a thriller for the second year in a row. And like on Wednesday against the USA with Rajeev ram and Jack Sock, they had to give in. This time Murray/Salisbury lost against Wesley Koolhof and Matwe Middelkoop 6:7 (0), 7:6 (6) and 3:6.
After the singles it was 1:1. At the start, Daniel Evans defeated Tallon Griekspoor 6: 4 and 6: 4, after that Botic van de Zandschulp gave British number one Cameron Norrie no chance with 6: 4 and 6: 2. The Netherlands have already qualified for the final round in Malaga. On Sunday it is still a matter of winning the group against the USA.
