Dominik Koepfer submitted for Germany - which was absolutely necessary in view of Jan-Lennard Struff's task. Because he has to play against Novak Djokovic in Innsbruck. And Struff can do this with a 1-0 lead in the back, because Koepfer defeated Filip Krajinovic 7: 6 (5) and 6: 4.

After winning the first set, Koepfer made the break to 3: 1 in round two, then fended off three chances to comeback. In the seventh game it was again hairy, this time Koepfer did not manage to unleash: Krajinovic came up to 3: 4. Koepfer, however, struck again when his opponent served. But that wasn't it yet, because Koepfer played what was probably the worst service game in the entire match and let Krajinovic catch up again. After 1:58 hours of play, Koepfer had his first match point, Krajinovic fended off with a risky stop variant. The second option was used by left-handers with a college background.

Koepfer's success was all the more important when you look at Struff's record against Djokovic: In six matches, the German could only win one set against the world number one.

For Serbia it is already the second game in Innsbruck, on Friday Djokovic and Co. won against Austria 3-0. Germany has to play against the home side tomorrow, Sunday (from 4 p.m. live on ServusTV).
