Two big questions currently concern the Austrian Tennis Association: First of all, whether the country's number one, Dominic Thiem, will be available for the international match against Uruguay on 6 and 7 March. Thiem will return to South America after the Australian Open, playing in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. And of course strive to defend his title in Indian Wells. However, the tournament in the Californian desert begins just days after the Davis Cup match against Uruguay.

Regardless of the ÖTV but also has to decide where to play. Due to the extremely late draw at the end of November, the options are not very rich. According to information from tennisnet, there are still three candidates for hosting the international match: Salzburg, Graz and St. Pölten.

In Salzburg, Austria had to defeat Chile 2-3 at the beginning of 2019 without the diseased Dominic Thiem. In Graz, the Austrians were defeated in September 2018. And in St. Pölten succeeded in the same year against Belarus a problem-free 5: 0 success. The final decision should be made in the coming days. Two singles will be played on Friday, followed by a double on Saturday, followed by two more singles on demand.
