The signs are pointing to a return - for both Alexander Zverev and Oscar Otte. The two best-placed German players in the ATP world rankings are currently recovering from injuries, but want to start for the German team in Hamburg. This was announced by team boss Michael Kohlmann at a press conference on Monday. Jan-Lennard Struff was nominated as the third individual player.

Otte had to undergo knee surgery four weeks ago, but is now able to train fully again. The man from Cologne has now firmly planned to start at the US Open.

For the doubles, Kohlmann appointed Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz to the team. The two had impressed last year in Innsbruck and then in Madrid, and are also unbeaten together in the Davis Cup. Which also applies to Andreas Mies, Krawietz's regular partner on the ATP tour. However, Kohlmann only had to choose two of the top three German doubles players.
