Of course, Dominic Thiem's grandfather also came to the Vienna Film Museum for the pre-premiere of the documentary "The Thiem Spirit", for which a camera team from ServusTV took 25-year-old Lichtenwörther on the way from the training camp in Tenerife for more than half a year had accompanied the French Open to the finals. The grandfather who accompanied Thiem to Croatia for his first international tournament - and who remembered it slightly wistfully. "The grandfather is built very close to the water," said a very cheerful Dominic Thiem in a talk with ServusTV sports director Christian Nehiba.

In addition to the archival material from Thiem's childhood days, the focus is on the documentation, which will be shown on Servus TV on Monday, July 29, 2019, in the six months in which a lot has happened for Austria's number one. On and off the court. The separation of manager and coach Günter Bresnik after 17 years of cooperation plays a prominent role, and the star trainer himself also speaks in detail. The very special relationship between Dominic Thiem and physio Alex Stober may not be so present to tennis fans, but director Max Foidl also made perfect use of his exclusive access to Team Thiem.

Thiem now in Hamburg, then in Kitzbühel

It has become 52 fun and informative minutes that no tennis fan should miss. Also because several all-time greats of the tennis scene give their opinion about Dominic Thiem: Roger Federer asked Foidl for an interview in Dubai, the team spoke with Rafael Nadal in London, and John McEnroe also has his say. Like the man from whom Dominic Thiem took over the baton of Austrian tennis in 2011 in the Wiener Stadthalle, Thomas Muster.

The next tasks for Thiem are initially in Hamburg, before moving on to the home tournament in Kitzbühel. Victory at the Generali Open is a big goal, the Lower Austrian confirmed - something that tournament director Alexander Antonitsch, who like ski jumping legend Gregor Schlierenzauer did not miss the premiere, naturally enjoyed.
