In principle, Dominic Thiem rarely complains about the circumstances surrounding his profession. However, if the 25-year-old has something to struggle with, it's the jet lag and the time change. So if Thiem goes to a non-European time zone, he always needs a few days to acclimatize.

Thiem will get this time in Buenos Aires tomorrow, the Lichtenwörther has left together with coach Günter Bresnik towards Argentina on Thursday from Vienna. The trip was worth it last year, Thiem won the first of three titles in 2018 (others followed in Lyon and St. Petersburg).

Thiem failed in Rio due to Vedasco

However, head coach Bresnik was not there a year ago, physio Alex Stober had taken over the supervision of Thiem. The two events are planned in Buenos Aires and then in Rio de Janeiro, where Thiem failed early on last year due to Fernando Verdasco - but was already successful in 2017.

The name of the Austrian number one is missing on the entry list for Acapulco, the next task after Rio will probably only be in Indian Wells.

By the way, it is quite possible that the small Austrian tour group will meet a friend on the plane: The German Davis Cup boss Michael Kohlmann also starts the trip to Buenos Aires. He is taking care of Maximilian Marterer, who left round one in Cordoba this week in the Argentine capital.
