After the marathon matches on Monday, Alexander Zverev was in a bit of a hurry on the Austrian national holiday: Zverev, who finished second at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, suddenly had problems with Filip Krajinovic after a convincing start, and won 6: 2 and 7: 5. In round two, Zverev will meet Alex de Minaur on Thursday, who had already been successful against Kevin Anderson on Monday.

Zverev didn't let anything go wrong from the start, only in the eighth game, when it came to closing the first set, the Olympic champion from Tokyo seemed a bit unfocused. Krajinovic could not use three break chances, however, Zverev got the set 6: 2. In the second act, the native of Hamburg gave up a serve to make it 1: 3 out of nowhere - with a double mistake. Zverev made the comeback at the last moment, taking Krajinovic's serve to 4: 5. And got the service of his Serbian opponent again. After a little more than 80 minutes, Zverev finished the match confidently with his own serve.

Tsitsipas beats Dimitrov

In the first two matches in the Wiener Stadthalle, the favorites were also able to prevail. Both Casper Ruud against Lloyd Harris and especially Stefanos Tsitsipas against Grigor Dimitrov only narrowly won their matches. Above all, Dimitrov put the tournament favorites from Greece hard and should have won the first round with three set balls.

Zverev and Tsitsipas will be back in action on Wednesday - but then in doubles. And that on the "small" court on Heumarkt. Tsitsipas plays with Feliciano Lopez against against the winner of the game Cabal / Farah against Koolhof / Rojer, Zverev supports Jürgen Melzer in his farewell performance. It's against John Peers and Filip Polasek.
