The biggest sensation came in the first match of the night session when Lorenzo Sonego, the lucky loser from Italy, dismantled Novak Djokovic 6: 2 and 6: 1.

At the end of the day, two more surprise men should match each other for the last remaining semifinal place at the Erste Bank Open: Dan Evans and Grigor Dimitrov. The Brit started well, got the first break of the game, but had to give it up again quite soon. So it went into the tie-break, in which Evans in particular showed impressive tennis and should always complete the point on the net. After more than an hour, the world number 33 secured himself. the first sentence.

In the second round it was the Bulgarian who should get into the match better. Dimitrov survived a small pressure situation on his own serve and got the break a little later. The World Anglist 20. no longer take - Dimitrov compensated.

But not getting any more, Evans acted too confidently on his own serve. After a good two hours and forty minutes, the Brit dropped to his knees when he was able to make his 7: 6 (3), 4: 6 and 6: 3 victory perfect.
