Daniil Medvedev once again proved his top form in the semi-finals of the Erste Bank Open. The 2020 US Open winner did not allow a single breakball against Grigor Dimitrov and ultimately won 6: 4 and 6: 2. The fourth in the world rankings in Vienna is still without losing a set.

The start in the once again sold out Stadthalle was balanced, Medvedev managed the first break in the fifth game to make it 3:2. After 45 minutes of play, Medvedev secured the first set with an ace 6:4.

Medvedev leaves nothing to chance

A similar picture emerged in the second round: Dimitrov scored the spectacular points, Medvedev the important ones. Once again, the Russian took the serve from Bulgaria, who was third in the world rankings, to make it 3-2, again making the preliminary decision. Medvedev added another break and after 85 minutes of play converted his second match point to a 6: 4 and 6: 2 success. In the final he meets Denis Shapovalov or Borna Coric.

Medvedev had already been able to look forward to good news before the semi-final match against Dimitrov. Since the draw for the Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy, it has been clear that the Russian will also be at the ATP Finals this year. And given his impressive form, the 26-year-old should also be one of the favorites in Turin.
