In Kitzbühel, Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler converted a wildcard into a tournament victory, at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna the two Austrians had to go the hard way through the qualification. But Erler / Miedler mastered it brilliantly. The win on Saturday against Simone Bolelli and Maximo Gonzalez was particularly impressive, on Sunday the Kitzbühel champions prevailed against Sander Gille and Dominic Koepfer 7: 5 and 6: 4. The reward is a meeting with the Austrian Olympic doubles from Tokyo: Oliver Marach and Philipp Oswald.
The fifth Austrian in the double tableau will be Jürgen Melzer, who tries it together with Alexander Zverev. And with John Peers and Filip Polasek, the Indian Wells winners will be put in front of them. This match is expected to take place on Tuesday.
