Erste Bank Open: Erler and Miedler sensational in the semifinals, Oswald with a chance

At home things are going well for Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler. After the Tyrolean and his Lower Austrian playmate sensationally won the title at the Generali Open last summer in Kitzbühel, the two are now in the semi-finals in Vienna. Erler/Miedler beat Hubert Hurkacz and Marcelo Melo 7:6 (6) and 6:4 on Thursday.
The task in the semi-finals is not unsolvable: It is against the two Belgians Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen. On the one hand, they come from the qualification. On the other hand, however, they beat the tournament favorites Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in round one.
Another local hero, Philipp Oswald, has the chance to reach the semi-finals on Friday. Oswald plays alongside Robin Haase against the two Argentinians Francisco Cerundolo and Maximo Gonzalez.
