Erste Bank Open: Erler and Miedler win double titles!
Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler won the doubles final at the Erste Bank Open 2022 in Vienna against Santiago Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 6: 3 and 7: 6 (1).

In the summer of 2021, Erler and Miedler surprisingly won the title at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel, in a 250 tournament. In the final of the Erste Bank Open 2022, the Tyrolean and the Lower Austrian started against the two doubles specialists Santiago Gonzalez and Andres Molteni as if they wanted to connect right there. A break was enough, then Erler/Mieder won the first set 6:3.
The second set went into a tie-break, in which Erler and Miedler - carried by 9,500 spectators in the Wiener Stadthalle - showed some outstanding tennis and after 81 minutes of play converted their first match point to a 6:3 and 7:6 (1) success.
Incidentally, the last success for a purely Austrian doubles couple dates back to 2019: Back then, Oliver Marach and Jürgen Melzer won the title at Rothenbaum in Hamburg.
