Jürgen Melzer wants to know one last time: The Austrian legend will be playing doubles again at the Erste Bank Open in the Wiener Stadthalle. And that together with Alexander Zverev, the German number one. With this, Melzer gets the big performance again, which was actually planned for the US Open - but the pair skating with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga did not take place due to the Frenchman's cancellation. With the Australian Marc Polmans the end came in round one.

Jürgen Melzer has had good experiences with German partners, especially one of course: Philipp Petzschner. Melzer / Petzschner won two Grand Slam titles, in Wimbledon in 2010 and then in New York City a year later.

Melzer victorious against Zverev

In the current ATP world rankings, Melzer is still in 29th position, the last appearance was at the ATP Challenger tournament in Tulln together with brother Gerald. There came the end against the eventual tournament winners Dustin Brown and Andrea Vavassori.

By the way, Jürgen Melzer played a single match against his Viennese partner Zverev. And that was remarkable: In 2014 in Munich, the veteran gave the then only 16-year-old only three games.
