The Serb prevailed in a hard-fought opening match against Filip Krajinovic and was able to destroy numerous chances of his opponent, especially in set one. Even if the 17-time Grand Slam champion was nowhere near his maximum performance - the 33-year-old was always comfortably far from defeat.
Now the industry leader is stepping on Croatian Borna Coric, who recently brought quite strong performances to the field. Coric reached the quarter-finals at the US Open and even the final at the ATP 500 event in St. Petersburg. Against Novak Djokovic sees the balance of the world rankings-24.
