In his first two rounds in Vienna, Djokovic had to fight hard in the first round, but the world number one did not have to give up a set. The same applies to his quarter-final opponent - at least in the main competition. In the qualification, Lorenzo Sonego even went as a loser against Aljaz Bedene, but the Italian slipped into the main draw as a lucky loser.
Djokovic and Sonego have never played against each other on the tour, but the role of favorites is clearly distributed despite the fact that the duel has not yet materialized: Anything other than a two-set success for the Serb would be a big surprise.
