The Erste Bank Open 2020 can look forward to the best field of participants that has ever been seen at the ATP 500 event in the Austrian capital. That was already clear before yesterday, Sunday, but now one of the really big stars dropped another bomb. Novak Djokovic, number one in the ATP world rankings, has announced himself for the tournament in Vienna and thanks to a wildcard will serve in the Wiener Stadthalle, the organizers announced in a press release.

In addition to Djokovic, seven players from the top 10 of the world rankings will also serve with Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Diego Schwartzman, Matteo Berrettini and Andrey Rublev. For the Serb it is the first start in Vienna since his title in 2007. For Dominic Thiem, who celebrated a triumph in front of a home crowd last year, the competition is stronger than ever.

"Due to the current circumstances, this year's event is also a strong investment by the e | motion group in the tournament. Despite the threat of losses due to the drastic reduction in the number of admitted visitors, it has always been our stated goal to hold the Erste Bank Open again this year and to exude confidence by offering sports and tennis fans a live event again. The great cast is the reward and at the same time a confirmation of the path we have chosen, ”emphasized tournament director Herwig Straka in a broadcast.
