Together with its namesake, the Thiemstag is also celebrating a comeback at the Erste Bank Open! Dominic Thiem will not serve against the American Tommy Paul (ATP rank 31) for the first round match at his home tournament in the Wiener Stadthalle on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, before 5:30 p.m. As is well known, the Erste Bank Open triumphant 2019 had to do without a performance in the previous year, most recently the winner of 17 ATP tournaments in Gijon (ESP) and Antwerp (BEL), where he reached the semifinals in each case, showed a strongly increasing form!

With Jurij Rodionov, a second local hero is in action on Tuesday - the Lower Austrian meets Canadian Denis Shapovalov, whom he also defeated in two sets in the opening round of the Erste Bank Open two years ago. With the game between Hubert Hurkacz from Poland and last year's finalist Frances Tiafoe (USA), another first-round hit is on the agenda for Tuesday.

October 26th will be the next tennis holiday, after all, top seed Daniil Medvedev will take on the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in the Wiener Stadthalle on Wednesday. The games of this week's finalists Stefanos Tsitsipas (Stockholm) and Matteo Berrettini (Naples) are also on the program. Tsitsipas meets the local wildcard player Dennis Novak, Berrettini collides with the British Daniel Evans.
